Green Roads on CBS

The year keeps on getting better for Green Roads. The CBD company reaches new heights of recognition after being featured on the CBS Sunday Morning Show. The CBD industry might be brand-new, but this company makes it seem like they’ve been dominating the market for decades.

Green Roads grossed approximately $45 million in sales in 2018 from their CBD-based products making it one of the most successful and biggest CBD brands on the market. Connoisseurs and customers alike trust Green Roads products to be high quality.

Correspondent Lee Cowan from the CBS Sunday Morning Show discussed a handful of topics surrounding the new compound from the business perspective to the manufacturing side of the spectrum. He later addressed the company behind the acclaimed CBD products on a cordial interview with co-founder Laura B. Fuentes.

Let’s look at the obstacles the CBD industry has faced in recent years, and how Green Roads surmounted those complications to establish itself as a top contender.

The Era of CBD Based Products Is Upon Us

The era of CBD is here! Although this is a relatively new industry, yearly sales of CBD based products are expected to rise exponentially. However, despite its wild popularity, misconceptions still surround this compound.

Bethany Gomez, a managing director of the Brightfield Group, a market research firm that has been tracking CBD sales, said, “I have never seen an industry grow this quickly, and I’ve never seen an industry with so much headwind.”

Last year, in the U.S. alone, the market hit about $600 million. Gomez forecasts that in as little as five years, it’s likely to be 40 times that, making CBD a $24 billion a year market.

She added, “Over the past year, it’s grown by more than 200%. And, that was with the market being federally illegal until December 20, when the Farm Bill passed.” With the Farm Bill now in action, things are going to be moving quickly.

With industrial hemp-derived CBD declared federally legal, big players are making plans to muscle into this marketplace. Rumor has it that even Coca-Cola is developing a CBD product.

The FDA has already approved one CBD drug called ‘Epidiolex’ that’s now in use to treat seizures associated with certain forms of childhood epilepsy.

Yasmin Hurd, a professor at Mount Sinai’s School of Medicine in New York, suggests that CBD may also curb addictions to heroin and other dangerous opioids. “The research to date gives us a big promise on which to build.”

Laura B. Fuentes, the co-founder of Green Roads, is a licensed compound pharmacist who brings the highest standards of self-regulation to her work. Laura creates the proprietary formulations that become the award-winning line of Green Roads CBD oils, edibles, and terpenes.

A Closer Look Inside the Company

With Laura’s guidance and leadership, Green Roads now have about a 10% share of the CBD market, but the supply side of the industry isn’t always transparent.

She has to deal with “tons” of shady people in the industry. She elaborates how vendors send her samples, which she sends to her lab for testing. The samples usually check out fine, so she orders more–but when she sends a bit of that larger order to the lab, “it’s not the same thing they sent me as a sample. And, there is no recourse.”

Green Roads spends a staggering $30,000 to $40,000 a month testing their raw materials for pesticides and metals, and it requires certificates of origin from their suppliers as well.

Green Roads has navigated all the uncertainty in the industry to achieve a remarkable level of success. The company was listed as one of the top 10 CBD brands in the country by Forbes in 2017 and has been featured in several publications including Yahoo, Cosmopolitan, ESPN, NBC, BuzzFeed, and now CBS.

Everything CBD – Chasing the Inevitable

The era of CBD-based products is upon us. With the Farm Bill now in action, it’s only a matter of time in which CBD will be as mainstream as chocolate bars. The market is already teeming with CBD products such as gummies, muscle rubs, pet treats, shampoos, syrups, and even coffee. Yes, CBD coffee is a real thing, and it could be on the shelves of your favorite store sooner rather than later.

In fact, national chains like Walgreens and CVS have announced plans to carry CBD based products in some of their stores.
